Gabby O'Connor is a NZ based installation artist.
From 2017-2020 , Gabby is conducting PhD research focused around communicating risk around climate change through three large scale public art projects throughout NZ. Her most recent series of projects involve working with scientists and local communities to communicate the connections between art, science and climate, but also for everyone to participate in the making of a contemporary art work.
In October-November 2015 and 2016, O’Connor spent time researching sea-ice crystals while on the sea-ice in Antarctica with oceanographers from NIWA. This research resulted in the exhibitions Studio Antarctica and Data Days + Studio Antarctica and more.
Currently, O’Connor is showing a video work collaboration with Slide Into Sound (Gabby O'Connor & Elissa Goodrich) which is officially in the 'videodome/videoskies' section of the program for MADATAC festival (Madrid, Spain) which opens mid Feb, 2019
